Trout: A Fictitious History
Trout: A Fictitious History
A chance conversation with an enthusiastic fly fisherman, Dan's ignorance of Redband Trout, and his vivid imagination has resulted in this creative book of truly fictitious trout. The fisherman showed him photographs on his phone of the beautiful Redbands he caught and released. Dan thought Redbands should have a band encircling the body and not a red stripe along the sides. He had so much fun painting this trout, he continued to come up with versions of other varieties of trout.
Dan has used his trout fishing experience, his degree in Biology, and his overactive imagination to paint 60 watercolors of fictitious trout, 5 never before created trout flies, and write delightful descriptions of his trout creations.
In this book, Quebec Red Trout sport a red fleur-de-lis on their sides, viscously attack flies made in British Columbia, and have a slightly maple flavor when smoked. The Lahontan Cutthroat Trout sport tusks and a long proboscis used to siphon phytoplankton. The amber colored sides of the Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout appear to have insects embedded in them.
Fishermen, outdoor enthusiasts, watercolorists, fly-tiers, and even non-fisherman will enjoy this book.
