Susanne Kriemann: Hey Monte Schlacko / Dear Slagorg

Nature has the last laugh in Kriemann's conceptual photography series--the triumph of plants over processed slag

Once the artificial slag heap of the Bremer Hütte smelting works, the 374-meter-high Monte Schlacko now thrives as a nature preserve. Photographer Susanne Kriemann (born 1972) documents the new growth on this manmade hill and projects her images into the abandoned department store in the city center of Siegen, Germany.
