Nowhere is Somewhere, Poems: Dancing With Shadows

At the age of 97, with ten books of poetry, James McGrath offers the poem to say, "A poem is one long breath." James' brief poems in Nowhere is Somewhere reveal the images from a long life creating his unique vision of surviving in a world of chaos and love. The poet has accepted the voice of a bird, cloud, stone, the stranger in the take-out line where the circle of breathing is layered: this is the poem. James, together with his family of companions, continue to embrace the stones and shadows in the garden. These are seeds to be planted over and over, mulching the loneliness.
