In this book Mr. Tomiki covers a large part of the Judo curriculum as well as an Appendix introducing the concepts of Aikido.

The items covered for Judo include a general introduction, training methods, practice techniques, contests, and Judo as a health benefit. As far as Judo techniques are concerned, the following are covered in text with accompanying photographs:

The Principle of Shizentai, Kuzushi, Ju-no-ri (Principle of Gentleness), Fundamentals and explanations of Nage-waza and Katame-waza.

The Appendix on Aikido covers the fundamentals of Aikido practice and 9 instances specific to self-defense with Aikido applications.

His explanation of Aikido, which is based on the fundamental principles of Judo, is so easy for ordinary people to understand and put into practice that all his students have shown an increasing ability in this particular art.
