Hanifa

This is the story of a singularly unique woman. Hanifa was raised in Uganda, a country that does not value the education of girls beyond a rudimentary level. As the daughter of a Muslim missionary her desire to gain a higher level of education was further frowned upon.. Hanifa fought against inflexible cultural hurdles to follow her dream, only later to become the victim of a vicious acid attack. Dispite this disfiguring assault, Hanifa fought to continue her education and became an advocate for women's education and women's rights.
