Behind the Walls of St. John's: A Story of Catholic Abuse
Behind the Walls of St. John's is the story of Carolyn, one of several hundred children sexually abused by the priests and nuns living at St. John's Catholic School for the Deaf. Carolyn was sent to St. John's at the age of four. Her parents took at face value the Nun's chronicle of their successful educational program. Never once did they question in what manner the curriculum was taught or how the school conducted itself. It was a school run by the clergy who were in direct communication with God and Jesus. It wasn't their right to second guess the experts. Only after a decade of terror did her parents remove her from the school. The once tightly-knit relationship she had enjoyed with her parents as an infant had completely unraveled. She suffered alone for decades until she came in contact with an attorney whose entire practice was based on abused children. And so began the tedious process of bringing to justice the crimes committed at St. John's School for the Deaf.
